It is an exciting time to be part of the young Church!

Youth Ministry is an active & vibrant ministry in our parish.  Throughout the year we offer a variety of speakers, retreats, service experiences- including a Summer Mission Trip, small group opportunities such as Senior Discipleship, Faithful Grounds, and Sons of St John.  We bring teens to national events such as the National Catholic Youth Rally and Steubenville Conferences as well as experiencing the local Church with ARISEmke and the Wisconsin Catholic Youth Rally.

Congratulations Seniors! We know college is going to be a busy time for you and adjusting to collegiate life can be overwhelming. We are here to help you make that transition a positive experience by connecting you to the Catholic campus ministry of your chosen college. The contact information you submit will be sent to the Campus Minister at your college so they can welcome you to campus and be a resource as you transition into your new life! Sign Up HERE

High School Formation

Teen Nights

Our 9/10th grade formation has 3 components:  Mass Attendance, Teen Nights, & Service.

Mass Attendance | Regular Sunday Mass attendance is expected of our Teens and families.

Teen Nights  | Monday Evenings, 7:00-8:30pm at St Eugene  October– April Teen Nights are evenings that include large group community time with prayer, worship and vibrant speakers followed by intentional small groups.  Our goal at Teen Night is to provide an opportunity for teens to be engaged in their faith through dynamic speakers and activities, to make these experiences personal through individual prayer and small group discussion, and to root each teen in their faith that will sustain them during their hectic week.

Teens attending public school are  expected to participate in 14 teen nights each year.

Teens attending Catholic Schools are expected to participate in 5 teen nights each year.

We recognize that Monday evenings are not always possible for teens to make.  For this  reason, we offer Independent Teen Nights (ITN), which encompass similar components of our Teen Nights, for teens to elect to participate.  There are 30-40 ITNs offered throughout the year, historically including  reciprocity with Holy Family/St Robert’s Teen Nights.  It is the responsibility of teens, with the guidance of their parents, to plan their schedule accordingly.

Service Teens are expected to serve a minimum of 15 hours each year as 9th & 10th grade students.  At least half of those hours must be serving your home parish.  Hours are accumulated July 1-June 30th.  Information for Liturgical Ministries will be provided in the beginning of the year and other parish opportunities will be updated as they arise.  It is the responsibility of each teen to set up his/her own opportunities to serve.

**Note: Confirmation Preparation usually takes place during grades 9, 10 & 11. Youth who miss part of any of the above components will need to make up what they missed. This means they may need to be  confirmed as a 12th grader.

Confirmation

What is Confirmation?  Confirmation increases and deepens all of the graces granted at Baptism.  The Catechism of the Catholic Church lists five effects of Confirmation:

it roots us more deeply in the divine filiation [as sons of God] which makes us cry, "Abba! Father!";it unites us more firmly to Christ;it increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us;it renders our bond with the Church more perfect;it gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the Cross.

Confirmation :  Teens in 11th grade begin Sacrament preparation in October to be Confirmed in the spring.  The purpose of this year is to prep teens for their own “vow,” of sorts. During the year, teens are asking questions, struggling through those questions, being given avenues to answer those questions, and hopefully, discovering what it really means to be a confirmed CATHOLIC.

Our Confirmation Sacramental Preparation has 3 components:  Mass Attendance, ongoing Formation, & Service.

Mass Attendance | Regular Sunday Mass attendance is expected of our Teens and families.

Formation  (September—May) Confirmation Formation includes 12 Sunday evening sessions 5:00-6:30pm September—May and  a full weekend Confirmation retreat (January 31- February 2).  Confirmation is not graduation; Our Sacramental intentionally discuss and plan to meet a few times after Confirmation so that teens can receive the Graces of the Holy Spirit at Confirmation and continue deepening their faith through fellowship & prayer, strengthening their faith roots.

Service Teens are expected to serve a minimum of 10 hours before being Confirmed.   At least half of those hours must be serving your home parish.  Hours are accumulated July 1– Confirmation date.
