“When a poor person dies of hunger, it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her. It has happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed."

Sandwich Saturday:

Our friends at St. Eugene Parish sponsor Sandwich Saturday the 3rd Saturday of every month from 10 to 11 am in Mackin Hall (7600 N. Port Washington Rd, Fox Point). All are welcome to volunteer. This is a great project for families. They typically make 1,200 sandwiches each month to be shared with homeless and low-income individuals at Hope House.

Donations of sandwich supplies are always welcome. They need bread, sliced sandwich meat, sliced (not individually wrapped) cheese, margarine, sandwich bags and peanut butter. People can make sandwiches at home and bring them to St. Eugene between 10 and 11 am. Please note that these sandwiches are frozen so please put margarine on both insides of the bread for all sandwiches and do not use jelly.

Shelter Ministry:

Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity:

The St. Monica community supports Habitat for Humanity’s important mission to provide affordable housing for Milwaukee’s most needy families by providing a team of workers one Saturday each month. Work is typically done rehabbing existing homes or doing repairs and minor improvements on homes owned in targeted neighborhoods through the “Brush with Kindness” program. Volunteers are needed from approximately 9am to 3pm. You must be 16 years of age. Skilled trades people or handy folks are always welcome, but there are important jobs for a range of skill levels. Projects often include painting, siding, repairs, landscaping, demolition, and door/window installation. Contact Maggie Stoeffel at 961-2164 or mstoeffel@wi.rr.com. Learn more about Habitat
