SACRAMENTS AND WORSHIP

Baptism: Infants and pre-school children: Baptism is celebrated during regularly scheduled parish liturgies. Parents are required to participate in classes within the past five years prior to making an appointment for their child’s baptism. Parent classes are offered on a regular basis during the year. Christian Initiation: Older Children and Adults: The parish offers the regular process of catechism, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults/Children (RCIA). Arrangements for inquiry and preparation should be made through the Ministry Center. 964-8780 aobrien@st-monica.org

Adult Confirmation: Sessions are offered each spring to prepare adults to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. Contact the Ministry Center for more information. 964-8780 aobrien@st-monica.org

Marriage: Couples contemplating the sacrament of Marriage should contact the Parish Office at least six months prior to setting a wedding date. Further guidelines and policies are detailed in a separate Marriage Handbook. 332-1576 office@st-monica.org

Reconciliation: A program to prepare children for the sacrament of Reconciliation is offered each Fall. The Archdiocese norm for the reception of this sacrament is 2nd grade. Parents of all second grade students enrolled in the Day School and Sunday school programs are notified in September with details of these options. First Eucharist: A program to prepare children for the sacrament of Eucharist is offered each spring. The parish norm for the reception of Eucharist is the second grade (7-8 years old). Children must have completed preparation for Reconciliation before beginning preparation for First Eucharist. Parents of all second grade students enrolled in the Day School and Sunday school programs are notified in January concerning Eucharistic preparation. Anointing of the Sick – Communal anointing of the sick is celebrated on the first Saturday of the month at the 8:00 a.m. Mass. Individual reception of the sacrament is available by appointment. Arrangements are made through the Parish Office. 332-1576 office@st.monica.org
