Year of Faith commemorates the 50th anniversary of Vatican II. Do you know much about this watershed event in the life of the Church?  Its purpose was to renew and refresh the life of the faithful and the relationship of the church with the modern world.  Whether you know a little or a lot about Vatican II, the “Come to the Table” small group presentation and discussion format will provide you with some insights into the major documents of Vatican II and how we are only now beginning to “unpack” all the richness the Council had to offer.  We will focus on the four Constitutions of Vatican II (The Dogmatic Constitution of the Church, Divine Revelation, Sacred Liturgy, and the Church in the Modern World).  For this study we will use a translation of the Constitutions called, “Vatican II in Plain English” (ave maria press, notre dame, in).  There is no pre-reading required or homework! Every session takes a few paragraphs from one of the Constitutions and we discuss in small groups.  Come and learn about Vatican II and grow in your faith!

ABOUT:  Roots is an adult formation program begun in 2011-2012.  Roots was launched to provide parishioners an opportunity to deepen their faith and to encounter Jesus Christ.  Our Catholic faith is rich with liturgies, tradition, art, music, theology, prayers, and customs that every generation needs to reinterpret and renew for the present age.  When we learn about our “roots” – where we come from as a church—we can appreciate more fully where we are headed and how we need to grow.
